Taxi Marshal Scheme For Dundee

Taxi Marshal Scheme For Dundee Image

At the Licensing Committee on Thursday (November 05) it was announced that Dundee City Council is to launch its taxi marshal scheme.

In 2014, the committee agreed to look into a scheme to introduce taxi marshals in the city.

The marshals will be at the Hawkhill/Brown Street taxi rank, just beside G Casino on Friday and Saturday evenings between 11pm and 4am – with an increased presence over the busy festive period.

The scheme will come into force from mid-November, with staff provided by SGL security. Additional support will be provided by council officers.

Licensing Committee Convener Councillor Stewart Hunter said: “Our priority and sole duty is public safety. We as a committee have previously agreed that the taxi marshal scheme will bring great benefits to people on a night out in the city, and the night time economy, as well as drivers and operators of taxis.

“More details will be announced in due course and I am sure this scheme will get the full support it deserves.”
