I DECLARATION OF INTEREST
There were no declarations of interest.
II BIODIVERSITY DUTY REPORT 2021/2023
There was submitted Report No 321-2023 by the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Services, presenting Dundee City Councils Biodiversity Duty Report which highlighted biodiversity action from 2021-2023, in compliance with its legal duty under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004 and the requirement to make the report publicly available, under the Wildlife and Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2011.
The Committee agreed:-
(i) to approve the report;
(ii) to note the achievements detailed within the report; and
(iii) to remit the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Services to make the report publicly available.
III PUBLIC BODIES CLIMATE CHANGE DUTIES - ANNUAL REPORT 2022/2023
There was submitted Report No 289-2023 by the Executive Director of City Development informing the Committee of the work undertaken over the period April, 2022 to March, 2023 in support of the Council's duties under the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009 and reporting on efforts to reduce the Councils organisational emissions and the investment delivered, which had resulted in a 56.4% reduction in total emissions since 2007/2008.
The Committee agreed:-
(i) to note the progress made by the Council in responding to the climate emergency and progress in reducing organisational emissions outlined in the 2022/2023 Public Bodies Climate Change Duties (PBCCD) Report at Appendix 1 to the report.
IV DUNDEE CITY COUNCIL NET ZERO TRANSITION PLAN
There was submitted Report No 210-2023 by the Executive Director of City Development seeking approval of Dundee City Councils Net Zero Transition Plan 2024/2030.
The Committee agreed:-
(i) to approve the Net Zero Transition Plan targets and actions;
(ii) to approve the Carbon Accounting process proposed in the plan; and
(iii) to note that the Council Leadership Team would monitor implementation of the Plan by each Service.
The Committee also agreed the additional recommendation that the Executive Director would report progress to the Committee on an annual basis.
