II REVIEW OF THE SERVICE ESTATE

There was submitted Report No 396-2018 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Service where reference was made to Article I of the minute of meeting of the Education Committee of 12th December, 2011, wherein it was agreed that an annual update report on the school estate would be prepared.

The Convener, seconded by Councillor Alexander, moved that the Committee note the:-

(i) current, planned and ongoing improvements to the estate;

(ii) capacity levels across schools; and

(iii) building safety update.

As an amendment, Councillor Marra, seconded by Councillor McCready, moved that a scheme of extension and major refurbishment be prepared for the Citys Victorian and Edwardian Schools and that this report be considered by the Committee to inform the next iteration of the Citys capital plan.

On a division, there voted for the motion - the Convener, Lord Provost Borthwick, Depute Lord Provost Campbell, Bailies Roberts and Sawers, Councillors Alexander, Cordell, Dawson, Flynn, Lynn, Murray, Rendall, Ross, Short and Smith and Miss Mands (16); and for the amendment - Bailies Keenan, Scott and Macpherson and Councillors Cruickshank, Gordon, McCready, McIrvine, Malone, Marra, Richardson, Hay, Scott and Duncan (13); Mr Baxter declining to vote - whereupon the motion was declared carried.
