II YEAR OF YOUNG PEOPLE
It was reported that a request had been received for a deputation to address the Committee in relation to the above report. The Committee agreed to hear the deputation.
After the deputation had stated their case and answered questions, they were thanked for their attendance and withdrew.
There was submitted Report No 102-2018 by the Executive Director of Children and Families Services advising members that 2018 was the Year of Young People (YOYP) and providing details of the approach being taken to co-ordinate activities across the city.
The Committee noted that 2018 was the Year of Young People and approved the developing Dundee Year of Young People Plan 2018.
The Committee further agreed to write to Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, calling on the Scottish Government to put together a funding package to rescue the future of the Scottish Youth Theatre which was to close on 31st July, 2018. A similar letter would also be sent to Creative Scotland.
