II MINUTE OF MEETING OF 3RD JUNE, 2015
The minute of meeting of the Dundee Licensing Forum of 3rd June, 2015 was submitted and approved.
III MATTERS ARISING
There were no matters arising which were not considered elsewhere on the agenda.
IV CHIEF CONSTABLE'S REPORT
There was submitted the Chief Constable's Annual Report for 2014/2015.
It was noted that the number of police interventions to licensed premises were comparatively low and this was due to the responsible behaviour of stakeholders. It was also noted that Police Scotland were looking at training records which were more properly the role of the LSO's.
V S.T.A.R. AWARDS
It was reported that all 21 assessments had been completed. The standard had been very high and different award categories had been introduced. The Awards Ceremony would take place on Sunday, 27th September at the Apex and uptake for this had been good.
VI ALCOHOL FOCUS SCOTLAND TRAINING - WHAT WOULD HELP DUNDEE FORUM WORK BETTER
There was a general discussion about the value of training provided by Alcohol Focus Scotland, which the Community representatives had found particularly useful.
There was also discussion as to how the membership could be widened, and attendance encouraged, both within the Trade and in other areas, and how the agenda could be focussed on areas of interest and relevance.
Suggestions included:-
- overtures to local educational institutions (University/Abertay/Dundee - Angus College).
- further communication with the Trade encouraging interest and attendance (Licensing Board Convener/Licensing Forum Chair/Dundee Licensed Trade Association?).
- limiting meetings to one hour.
- e-mail/text message reminders prior to meetings.
- possible change in time of meetings to better accommodate members.
- communication/visits to other forums to share best practice.
VII DATE OF NEXT MEETING
Tuesday, 1st December, 2015. It was agreed to invite Tony Cooke, author of "A History of Drinking - The Scottish Pub Since 1700" to give a brief presentation.
