At a MEETING of the EDUCATION COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 25th August, 2014.

The minute of meeting of this Committee of 23rd June, 2014 was held as read.

I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

There were no declarations of interest.

II PARENT AND PUPIL REPRESENTATION ON THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE

There was submitted Agenda Note AN192-2014 where reference was made to Article VI of the minute of meeting of the City Council held on 20th August, 2012, wherein it was agreed to seek nominations for parent and pupil representatives on the Education Committee.

Miss Lorna Alan, the Pupil representative for 2013/2014 had now left school and the City Wide Pupil Council has nominated Miss Alix Finlayson, a pupil at Harris Academy, to be the pupil representative on the Education Committee for Session 2014/2015.

With regard to parent representation, Susan Clelland had been re-nominated as the primary representative, and Clare Huxley as the secondary representative.

The nominees had agreed to abide by the Code of Conduct in accordance with the Standards Commission's Guidance.

The Committee noted the appointments.

III NATIONAL 4/5 SUBJECT CHOICES FOR S4 PUPILS

This item had been placed on the agenda at the request of Councillor Bidwell.

The Committee noted that a report would be brought back to this Committee in January or February, 2015 on publication of the national INSIGHT data. As part of this report it was agreed to include a summary of the patterns of subject uptake across the city at S4.
