I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

 

There were no declarations of interest.

 

II EXPANSION OF EARLY LEARNING AND CHILDCARE ENTITLEMENT TO 600 HOURS FOR CHILDREN AGED TWO YEARS

 

There was submitted Report No 193-2014 by the Director of Education informing the Committee of the Scottish Governments proposal to extend the entitlement to 600 hours of Early Learning and Childcare to children aged two years and to seek approval of the proposed implementation approach in Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) note the content of the report;

 

(ii) the approach to the implementation of the extension in the entitlement to nursery provision for children aged two years as detailed in the report;

 

(iii) instruct the Director of Education and Head of Human Resources to take forward staffing issues arising from the proposal, and further agreed to:-

 

(iv) report back to the Education Committee in Spring/Summer 2015 about the demand and suitability of nursery places, nursery hours offered and nursery locations for children aged two years as detailed in the report.
