I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

There were no declarations of interest.

II VALEDICTORY - MRS MARY REID

The Convener paid tribute to Mrs Mary Reid, Chair of the Education Appeal Committee, who had recently decided to retire from that role.

Mrs Reid, a former Teacher and Head Teacher in Dundee, had been Chair since 1997 taking over from Mr David Robertson, former Director of Education with Tayside Regional Council.

The Convener expressed his thanks for her years of service to the Appeal Committee and for the diplomatic and considerate way she had dealt with appellants and officers.

The Education Committee associated themselves with the Conveners remarks.

III RETAINING RESERVED PLACES IN SCHOOLS 2014/2015

There was submitted Report No 94-2014 wherein reference was made to Article V of the minute of meeting of the Education Committee of 19th February, 2001 where approval was given to retain reserved places in certain schools to accommodate children moving into the catchment area during the school year. The Director of Education was required to review the allocation of places on an annual basis.

The Committee approved the proposals to reserve places in schools for Session 2014/2015 as set out in Appendix 1 of the report below:-
