At a MEETING of the DUNDEE LICENSING FORUM held at Dundee on 3rd July, 2012.

Apologies were intimated from Depute Lord Provost Roberts and Councillors Guild and Gordon, Katrina Finnon, Morag Beattie and Liz Kay.
I APPOINTMENT OF CONVENER
The Forum unanimously agreed to elect Chris Sloan as Convener of the Forum.
II INTRODUCTIONS AND WELCOME
Members of the Forum introduced themselves and gave a brief outline of their role. A particular welcome was given to Ms Yvonne Tosh and Mr Garvie Jamieson who had indicated an interest in joining the Forum as community representatives.
The Convener also expressed his thanks to the support given to the Forum by the Licensing Board, and in particular the Convener.
III APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBERS
It was agreed to co-opt Mr Dominic Anderson (Coyles) and Mr Paul Snaith (Private Eyes) as members of the Forum representing the Licensed Trade.
It was also reported that Mr Douglas Winton had been nominated to represent Tayside Fire and Rescue.
IV MINUTE OF MEETING OF 6TH MARCH, 2012
The minute of the above meeting was submitted and approved.
V TRAINING BY ALCOHOL FOCUS SCOTLAND
There followed a training event, delivered by Linda Bowie of Alcohol Focus Scotland, giving an outline of the background to Local Licensing Forums and possible future actions.
The Forum discussed issues including:-
- the importance of licensing
- the five licensing objectives
- the role and aims of Local Licensing Forums
- levels of alcohol consumption and its consequences
- possible measures to reducing overall consumption
- further action areas for Dundee Licensing Forum
VI DUNDEE CITY LICENSING BOARD STATEMENT OF LICENSING POLICY 2010 - 2013
It was agreed that the Board's existing policy be considered at the next meeting and that Mr Brian Woodcock, the Licensing Board's legal adviser, be invited to talk to this.
