I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

No declarations of interest were made.

II TENDERS RECEIVED

There was submitted Report No 420-2013 by the City Architect detailing tenders received and requesting decisions thereon:-

(a) VARIOUS PROPERTIES - PHASE 3 - CONTROLLED ENTRIES 2013/2014

The Committee agreed to a partnering project under Controlled Entries Framework with McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee in the sum of 463,400.67, together with allowances of 10,000 for utility charges and 39,389 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 512,789.67.

(b) VARIOUS PROPERTIES - PHASE 3A - CONTROLLED ENTRIES 2013/2014

The Committee agreed to a partnering project under Controlled Entries Framework with McGill Electrical Ltd, Dundee in the sum of 653,832.53, together with allowances of 10,000 for utility charges and 55,576 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 719,408.53.

III SCOTTISH NATIONAL STANDARDS FOR INFORMATION AND ADVICE PROVIDERS, TYPE 1 ACCREDITATION

There was submitted Report No 421-2013 by the Director of Housing advising members that the Housing Departments Homeless Services Unit had achieved accreditation at Type 1 of the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers for the period 2013/2017.

The Committee:-

(i) noted that national accreditation had been achieved; and

(ii) noted the Accreditation Report appended to the report.

IV 1A RUSSELL PLACE, DUNDEE

There was submitted Report No 422-2013 seeking approval to demolish the property at 1A Russell Place, Dundee.

The Committee:-

(i) agreed the demolition of the house at 1A Russell Place, Dundee; and

(ii) remitted the City Engineer to negotiate with Safedem Ltd to undertake all necessary demolition works within the terms of the Derby Street/Russell Place demolition contract.

V REVIEW OF RENTS AND OTHER HOUSING CHARGES 2014/2015

There was submitted Report No 433-2013 seeking approval to consult with tenants on the proposed rent increase and other related charges for 2014/2015.

The Committee:-

(i) approved that the Director of Housing consult for a two month period with tenants on the proposed options for the rent increase for 2014/2015;

(ii) noted that estimated rent increases for 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 would be included in the consultation document to tenants to provide an indication of future rent levels; and

(iii) agreed that only the rent options which had been the subject of consultation with tenants over the two month period be used to set the 2014/2015 Housing Revenue Account Budget and Rent and Other Housing Charges.
