I DECLARATION OF INTEREST
No declarations of interest were made.
II TRADING OPERATIONS FINANCIAL OPERATING STATEMENT AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE FOR THE NINE MONTHS ENDED31ST DECEMBER, 2012
There was submitted Joint Report No 76-2013 by the Director of Corporate Services and Director of Environment appraising the Committee on the financial position and operational performance of trading operation within the Environment Department for the nine months ended 31st December, 2012.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) note the current financial position and operational performance for trading operations; and
(ii) note that the trading operation should exceed the statutory requirement of break-even for the third year of the current three year rolling period which commenced at the start of financial year 2010/2011.
III SUPPLY OF VEHICLES 2013/2014
There was submitted Report No 116-2013 by the Director of Environment seeking authority to purchase replacement vehicles as required by the Environment Department and Leisure and Culture Dundee Trust to maintain operational efficiency.
The Committee approved the purchase of the vehicles listed in Appendix 1 to the report at a total cost of 152,159.
IV TROTTICK PONDS EMERGENCY WORKS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN26-2013 advising the Committee that following severe flooding experienced in January, 2013, a section of the walkway around Trottick Pond gave way. The City Engineer recommended various remedial works to be carried out as a matter of urgency to deal with some immediate safety concerns. Remedial works included the installation of a gabion wall at the outfall to the Dighty and restoration to sections of the footpath bordering the Trottick Ponds. Due to the potential risk to the health and safety of the public, the Chief Executive authorised the City Engineer to progress the works up to a value of 20,000. The Director of Corporate Services advised that this could be met from allowances within the Open Space Capital Budget 2012/2013.
The Committee approved the proposed measures and instructed the City Engineer to initiate works via the Roads Maintenance Partnership with Tayside Contracts.
Craig MELVILLE, Convener.
