I PROPOSED SIMPLIFICATION OF TAXI FARE STRUCTURE AND ANNUAL TAXI FARE INCREASE METHODOLOGY

Reference was made to Article IV(b) of the minute of meeting of this Committee held on 4th November, 2010, wherein it was agreed that officers review and consider simplification of the taxi fare structure and proposed taxi fare increase methodology.

There was submitted Report No 176-2012 by the Director of City Development advising that, following the taxi fare scale appeal hearing held in the City Chambers, City Square, Dundee on 29th March, 2011 and the subsequent determination by the Traffic Commissioner, it was now appropriate to revisit the review of the methodology and outline a fares increase methodology which had been agreed by the Trade.

The Committee agreed:-

(i) the taxi fare increase methodology contained in the report;

(ii) that approval be given for commencement of the statutory fares increase consultation in relation to the 6.36% increase proposed; and

(iii) to instruct the Director of City Development to review the fares structure and increase process after three years and report the findings to the Licensing Committee.
