I CONTROL OF DOGS (SCOTLAND) ACT 2010

 

There was submitted Report No 469-2011 by the Director of Environment informing the Committee of the implications of the new Control of Dogs (Scotland) Act 2010 which came into force on 26th February, 2011 and making recommendations for the implementation of this new statutory responsibility and the promotion of responsible dog ownership.

 

The Committee agreed that:-

 

(i) the Scheme of Delegation be amended to allow the Director of Environment or appropriate nominated officer to authorise appropriate officers within the department to enforce the relevant sections of the Control of Dogs (Scotland) Act 2010; and

 

(ii) the proposal be approved so that the enforcement of the legislation be undertaken as a direct function of the Senior Environmental Service Officer and Environmental Service Officers' duties following appropriate training and authorisation.

 

II TENDERS RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER

 

The Convener, Councillors Hunter, Gordon and Bailie Wallace declared a non-financial interest in this item by virtue of their Council appointments to the Board of Leisure and Culture Dundee.

 

There was received Report No 448-2011 by the City Engineer detailing tenders received in respect of replacement and upgrading of pitches at DISC.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Sport in Scotland in the sum of Four Hundred and Sixty Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Forty Seven Pounds and Seven Pence (465,447.07) Sterling, together with the undernoted allowances:-

making a total expenditure of Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pounds (550,000) Sterling.

 

III TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 471-2011 by the Director of Environment detailing tenders received in respect of improvement works to the Green Circular.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from T & N Gilmartin (Contractors) Ltd in the sum of Twenty Three Thousand, Eight Hundred and Twenty Four Pounds and Twenty Four Pence (23,824.24) Sterling.
