Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.
I TENDER FOR SUPPLY OF FIREWORKS DISPLAYS AT BAXTER PARK AND LOCHEE PARK ON 5TH NOVEMBER, 2011
There was submitted Report No 369-2011 by the Director of Environment detailing the tenders received for the supply, delivery and firing of fireworks at Baxter Park and Lochee Park, Dundee.
The Committee approved the offer from Reaction Fireworks for an initial one year's fireworks display at Baxter Park and Lochee Park.
II TENDER FOR RESTORATION OF HEADSTONE MEMORIALS
The Convener declared a non-financial interest in this item by virtue of his employment as a monumental mason.
There was submitted Report No 370-2011 by Director of Environment seeking approval for the purchase of services for the restoration of Headstone Memorials for the Environment Department.
The Committee agreed that services be purchased from Vernicom Environmental having noted that after evaluation the supplier listed was the most advantageous regarding quality and service.
III WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ACT 1985 - ANNUAL RETURN
There was submitted Report No 371-2011 by Director of Environment providing information on the operation of Dundee City Council as a Local Weights and Measures Authority for the year to 31st March, 2011.
The Committee noted the content of the report and also the annual report, which works in the format agreed by the Secretary of State in accordance with Section 70 of the Weights and Measures Act 1985.
IV CARDBOARD AND PAPER
There was submitted Agenda Note AN125-2011, whereby reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of the Special Policy and Resources Committee on 12th February, 2009, when the Head of Waste Management was remitted to negotiate a contract with Stirling Fibre Ltd for the recycling of all paper and cardboard collected within the City (Report No 104-2009 refers).
Since then, a proposal to extend this contract was offered by the contractor and this included an improved price structure and a guaranteed minimum price, regardless of world market conditions.
As this would provide price stability for the Council in future years in which was traditionally a volatile market place, the Head of Waste Management agreed to extend the contract on these conditions.
The Committee agreed to note this position.
Bob DUNCAN, Convener.
