I REVISED ARRANGEMENTS TO PROCESS REQUESTS FOR EDUCATION AT HOME: 2011/2012 ONWARDS
There was submitted Report No 423-2010 by the Director of Education proposing revised arrangements from the beginning of session 2011/2012 for responding to requests from parents and carers to educate their child at home.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) note the content of the report; and
(ii) delegate to the Director of Education the approval of consent to withdraw children from school in terms of S35 of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980.
II EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SERVICE PLAN 2010/2012
There was submitted Report No 418-2010 by the Director of Education presenting the Education Department's new Service Plan 2010/2012.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) approve the report and the attached Service Plan 2010/2012; and
(ii) instruct the Director of Education to monitor the progress and impact of the Plan and report back as required in the revised corporate service planning guidelines.
III REVISED CHARGES FOR DUDHOPE HOUSE
There was submitted Report No 419-2010 by the Director of Education requesting approval to increase charges for educational provision at the Young Persons' Unit, Dudhope House.
The Committee:-
(i) noted the content of the report;
(ii) approved the increase in charges as outlined in paragraph 3.2 of the report; and
(iii) instructed the Director of Education to inform other local authorities of this decision.
IV PROGRESS ON REVIEW OF GROVE OFFICE AND EASTERN PRIMARY ACCOMMODATION
There was submitted Report No 420-2010 by the Director of Education advising the Committee as to progress on the review of Grove office and Eastern Primary accommodation.
The Committee:-
(i) approved the report;
(ii) noted the Director of Education would bring a final consultation report back to the Education Committee at is meeting on 22nd November, 2010; and
(iii) noted the Director of Education would apply to Scottish Ministers for dispensation from the standards set out in the School Premises (General Requirements and Standards) (Scotland) Regulations 1967, as amended.
V TRANSFER TO SEEMIS LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIP (LLP)
There was submitted Report No 421-2010 by the Director of Education updating the Committee on the rationale for, and progress to, a SEEMIS Limited Liability Partnership (LLP).
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) note the content of the report;
(ii) approve Dundee City Council becoming a partner in the LLP; and
(iii) instruct the Director of Education to monitor the progress of the LLP.
VI PROCUREMENT OF SCHOOL TRANSPORT
There was submitted Report No 422-2010 by the Director of Education and Director of City Development informing the Committee of the outcome of the home to school transport tendering exercise undertaken in July 2010.
The Committee agreed to note and approve the tender awards as outlined in Appendix I of the report noted below:-
