I HOME CARE ENABLEMENT

 

There was submitted Report No 355-2010 by the Director of Social Work informing the Committee that based upon the experience of pilots, it was proposed to further extend the enablement approach to the delivery of home care in Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to endorse the expansion of the enablement approach to the delivery of home care services across Dundee City based upon a full evaluation of the six month pilot; and

 

(ii) to endorse the measures being adopted to improve the level of independence of service users, and to increase the efficiency of the home care service.

 

II SELF DIRECTED SUPPORT - DEVELOPMENT OF PERSONALISED SERVICES

 

There was submitted Report No 359-2010 by the Director of Social Work introducing the concept of Self-Directed Support as a means to deliver more personalised social care services in Scotland and provided an update of the progress made in Dundee to date to develop this approach. The report also advised of the officer response to the recent consultation documents "Proposals For A Self-Directed Support (Scotland) Bill;" and "Self-Directed Support - A National Strategy for Scotland".

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i) to support the continued development of the personalisation agenda in Dundee and note the progress made to date in developing a framework to support more personalised services within Dundee; and

 

(ii) the recently submitted draft officer response to the Scottish Government's Consultation on proposals for a Self Directed Support (Scotland) Bill and associated strategy attached as Appendices to the report.
