I SCOTTISH PUBLIC SERVICES OMBUDSMAN - ANNUAL REPORT 2008/2009

 

After considering Report No 559-2009 by the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) relative to the above, the Committee noted the contents of the Annual Report 2008/2009 from the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.

 

II STANDARDS COMMISSION FOR SCOTLAND - ANNUAL REPORT 2008/2009

 

After considering Report No 560-2009 by the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) relative to the above, the Committee noted the contents of the Annual Report 2008/2009 from the Standards Commission for Scotland.

 

III CLEPINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL (FOLLOW THROUGH REPORT)

 

There was submitted Report No 535-2009 by the Director of Education reporting on the findings of the HMIe follow through inspection of Clepington Primary School.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Education and senior management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) instruct the Director of Education to continue to monitor progress towards meeting the areas for improvement contained in the original report and this follow through report.

 

IV HMIE INSPECTION OF DOWNFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL AND NURSERY CLASS

 

There was submitted Report No 534-2009 by the Director of Education reporting on the findings of the HMIe inspection of Downfield Primary School and Nursery Class.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Education and senior management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) instruct the Director of Education to monitor progress towards meeting the areas for improvement contained in the report.

 

V STRATHCARRON PLACE YOUNG PERSONS UNIT

 

There was submitted Report No 542-2009 by the Director of Social Work summarising the findings and gradings awarded by the Care Commission to Strathcarron Place Young Persons' Unit.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and senior management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service.

 

VI FAIRBAIRN STREET YOUNG PERSONS UNIT

 

There was submitted Report No 551-2009 by the Director of Social Work summarising the findings and gradings awarded by the Care Commission to Fairbairn Street Young Persons' Unit.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and senior management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service.

 

VII JUNCTION YOUNG PERSONS UNIT

 

There was submitted Report No 550-2009 by the Director of Social Work reporting on the findings of the Care Commission inspection of the Junction Young Persons' Unit.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and senior management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service.

 

VIII GILLBURN ROAD RESIDENTIAL RESPITE UNIT

 

There was submitted Report No 549-2009 by the Director of Social Work reporting on the findings of the Care Commission inspection of Gillburn Road Residential Respite Unit.

 

The Committee, having questioned the Director of Social Work and senior management, agreed to:-

 

(i) note the contents of the report; and

 

(ii) remit to the Director of Social Work to monitor the continued progress towards improving this service.

 

IX EMPLOYEES

 

The Committee agreed to record their appreciation in respect of the excellent work carried out by employees within the above establishments and remitted to the Chief Executive to write in appropriate terms.
