I CONFERENCE - PROTECTING SCOTLANDS CHILDREN CONFERENCE 2009 IMPROVING CHILD PROTECTION PRACTICES, PROCEDURES ANDPERFORMANCE - TUESDAY, 1ST DECEMBER, 2009 - RADISSON SAS HOTEL, GLASGOW
There was submitted Agenda Note AN232-2009 reporting that this conference was for those involved in the development and delivery of child protection plans and policy.
The cost of attendance would be 199 plus VAT and excluding travel and subsistence allowances.
The Committee agreed that attendance at this conference be on the basis of one member of the Administration, one member of the Major Opposition Group and one member of the Minority Opposition Group.
II CAPITAS NATIONAL CONFERENCE - IMPROVING CHILDRENS SERVICES IN SCOTLAND - TUESDAY, 8TH DECEMBER, 2009 -CENTRAL EDINBURGH
There was submitted Agenda Note AN233-2009 reporting that Capita's Improving Children's Services in Scotland Conference would bring together expert speakers from key organisations dedicated to enabling children and young people to realise their potential and enjoy a good quality of life.
This event focused on latest initiatives, core issues and innovative strategies to impact upon the sector.
The cost of attendance per person would be 402.50 plus VAT and excluding travel and subsistence allowances.
Councillor Donald Hay, seconded by Bailie Derek Scott, moved that no elected member attended Capita's National Conference.
As an amendment, the Convener, seconded by Depute Lord Provost Ian Borthwick, moved that the Convener, or Depute Convener, and one Officer, attended Capita's National Conference.
On a division, there voted for the motion - Bailies Wallace, Scott and Councillor Hay (3); and for the amendment - the Convener, Councillors Guild, Black, Bowes, Andrew Dawson, Will Dawson, Duncan, Fordyce, Hunter, Lynn, Melville, Roberts, Ross, Keenan, Asif, Bidwell, Ferguson, Gordon, McCready, Macpherson, Bailies Sawers and Wright, Lord Provost John R Letford and Depute Lord Provost Ian Borthwick (24) - whereupon the amendment was declared carried and it was agreed that elected member attendance at the conference be on the basis of the Convener, or Depute Convener, and one Officer.
