I POLICY ON PROVISION FOR YOUNG CARERS
There was submitted Report No 491-2009 by the Director of Education seeking Committee approval for a policy on provision for young carers.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) note the content of the report;
(ii) approve the policy; and
(iii) instruct the Director of Education to monitor the implementation of the policy.
II PUPILS WHO RESIDE IN DUNDEE AND ATTEND ANGUS PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Bailie Wallace declared a non-financial interest by virtue of having grandchildren who attend an Angus primary school. He then left the Chamber and took no part in the debate.
There was submitted Report No 150-2009 by the Director of Education reviewing procedures for the allocation of places in secondary schools relative to the above.
The Committee agreed to:-
(i) note the contents of the report;
(ii) note that those who reside in Dundee but attend Angus primary schools would have priority 2, 3 or 4 status, depending on their individual circumstances;
(iii) instruct the Director of Education to discuss the means of communicating the information to parents/carers; and
(iv) instruct the Director of Education to monitor the situation in all neighbouring authorities.
Elizabeth F FORDYCE, Convener.
