The minute of meeting of this Committee of 11th May, 2009 was held as read.

I CARE LEAVERS POLICY BETWEEN DUNDEE CITY COUNCILS SOCIAL WORK AND HOUSING DEPARTMENTS

 

There was submitted Report No 275-2009 by the Director of Housing advising the Committee of the intention to implement the Joint Care Leavers Policy between Dundee City Council's Social Work and Housing Departments.

 

The Committee:-

 

(i) acknowledged the Policy; and

 

(ii) recognised the valuable contribution that the Policy would make towards ensuring a co-ordinated and integrated response to the accommodation needs of young people who were previously looked after or looked after and accommodated by Dundee City Council, and who were eligible for aftercare support, it being noted that the policy assisted the Council in meeting its corporate parenting responsibility.

 

II DUNDEE TRUSTED TRADER SCHEME

 

On a reference to Article VI of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 28th January, 2008, there was submitted Report No 303-2009 by the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards providing an update on the operation of the Dundee City Council 'Trusted Trader' local business partnership scheme.

 

The Committee noted the positive development of the Dundee Trusted Trader scheme and agreed to the promotion of the scheme as a model of good practice to the Scottish Government in respect of proposals for a Scottish-wide trusted trader network.

 

III TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No 322-2009 by the City Architectural Services Officer giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts.

 

Camperdown 1st Development - Heating, Kitchens and Bathrooms

 

The Committee agreed to accept a partnering contract with Dundee Contract Services amounting to 943,500, together with the undernoted allowances:-

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 8 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

IV NEW BUILD COUNCIL HOUSE PROGRAMME - OPEN MARKET PURCHASE

 

On a reference to Article XV of the minute of meeting of the City Development Committee of 8th June, 2009, and after considering Report No 201-2009 by the Director of Housing and Director of Economic Development relative to the above, the Committee approved the recommendations detailed therein.
