The minute of meeting of this Committee of 22nd September, 2008 was held as read.
Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.
Prior to the commencement of business, the Committee expressed their condolences to the family of Baldragon Academy pupil, Sean Hanton, who was tragically killed on 21st October, 2008.
The Committee also expressed their thanks to staff in the Education and Contract Services Departments and Tayside Contracts for their efforts after the fire at Craigie High School in getting the school ready for pupils returning after the October holiday.
I CHANGES TO PROCEDURES FOR THE ALLOCATION OF PLACES IN DUNDEE SECONDARY SCHOOLS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN203-2008 informing the Committee that the above item was placed on the agenda in terms of Standing Order No 38 at the request of Bailie Wallace requesting that the Director of Education reviews Report Nos 155-2003 and 546-2003 to take recognition of an anomaly whereby pupils who reside in Dundee but attend an Angus Council primary school do not have a priority one place at any Dundee secondary school.
The Committee instructed the Director of Education to review the Education Department's policy relative to the above and to report back to this Committee.
