I GRANT AWARDS UP TO £500 (2007/2008)

 

The Convener and Councillors Macpherson and Hay declared non-financial interests in this item by virtue of their attendance at West End Community Council meetings.

 

Councillors Asif and Black declared non-financial interests in this item by virtue of their Council appointments to the Grey Lodge Settlement Association Board.

 

There was submitted Report No 232-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities detailing awards up to the value of 500 that were made during the financial year 2007/2008.

II FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO SOUND SENSE PROJECT

 

The Convener and Councillor Lynn declared non-financial interests in this item by virtue of their Council appointments to the Board of Tayside Association for the Deaf.

 

There was submitted Report No 235-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval for a grant award from the Equality Action Fund to the Sound Sense Project.

 

The Committee approved the award of a grant of 685 towards the costs of a Deaf Awareness Day on 7th May, 2008.

 

III CAMPERDOWN PARK - PROPOSED CAFE/VISITOR EDUCATION CENTRE

 

There was submitted Report No 257-2008 by the Director of Leisure and Communities updating the Committee on withdrawal of the interest from the partner who previously expressed interest in the play barn and to seek authority to progress with an alternative cafe/visitor centre and education facility based around the entrance of the Wildlife Centre.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) remit the Director of Leisure and Communities to progress plans for an integrated cafe/visitor centre and education centre at Camperdown Park Play Area/Wildlife Centre and associated changes to infrastructure including car parking; and

 

(ii) give a remit to the Director of Economic Development to seek potential lease/partner for the cafe/shop element of the project.
