I QUOTATION RECEIVED BY CITY ENGINEER - DEMOLITIONS AT MAXWELLTOWN
There was submitted Report No 147-2008 by the City Engineer detailing a quotation received for the above contract.
The Committee agreed to accept the quotation from SSE Power Distribution amounting to 87,862, together with the undernoted allowances:-

II NATIONAL ASSISTANCE ACT 1948 - BURIAL OR CREMATION OF DECEASED PERSONS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN43-2008 detailing tenders received in respect of burial and/or cremation of Destitute Dead Persons for the period 1st April, 2008 to 31st March, 2011.
The Committee agreed that the lowest offer from James Ashton & Son Ltd, being 371 for burials and 880 for cremations, be accepted, commencing 1st April, 2008.
III SERVICE AND CALIBRATION CONTRACT FOR SOUND LEVEL METERS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN44-2008 advising that in accordance with Dundee City Council's resolution to adopt Part 5 of The Anti-Social Behaviour etc (Scotland) Act 2004, the Council's Night Time Noise Team required to use sound level meters to measure noise levels within affected properties prior to issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice.
Accuracy was paramount in this process, and to ensure that the equipment was operating satisfactorily, it was necessary to have the meters serviced and calibrated at intervals of no greater than every two years. Calibration was due and it was recommended that this service be provided by the original supplier of the equipment, Bruel and Kjaer.
The Committee approved the purchase of this service from the original supplier of the equipment, Bruel and Kjaer to cover the existing equipment of 4 x Bruel and Kjaer Sound Level Meters at the cost of 11,679.
IV LOCAL AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT REGIME - MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN45-2008 advising that in accordance with the Local Air Quality Management Regime, Dundee City Council was required to undertake further assessment of particulates (PM10) in relation to the 2010 PM10 objective.
Dundee City Council had been awarded a grant of 6,650 under the Local Air Quality Management - Capital Grant Scheme 2007/2008 for the renewal of the maintenance contracts for the five OSIRIS monitors which monitored PM10 at various locations across the City.
The maintenance contracts for the air quality monitors (OSIRIS) were due, and in order to maintain the continuity of the data, it was recommended that the maintenance contracts be renewed with the original provider of the equipment.
The Committee approved the renewal of the maintenance contracts for the OSIRIS monitors with Turnkey Instruments Ltd at the cost of 6,650.
