I CHARGES FOR RESPITE CARE AND SHORT BREAKS AND ENABLING SERVICES

 

There was submitted Report No 363-2007 by the Director of Social Work proposing amendment to the current charging scheme for respite care, short breaks and enabling services.

 

The Committee agreed to the implementation of a revised charging scheme for respite care, short breaks and enabling services, as set out in Appendix I of the report with effect from 1st February, 2008.

 

II FOSTERING ALLOWANCES 2007/2008

 

Reference was made to Article IV of the minute of meeting of the Social Work and Health Committee held on 25th June, 2007, wherein proposals for the future development of the family placement service were agreed.

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN289-2007 recommending changes to foster carers' fees and allowances.

 

The Committee agreed to the changes as detailed in the note.

 

III INCREASE OF PAYMENT RATES FOR ADULT PLACEMENTS

 

Reference was made to Article I of the minute of meeting of the Social Work and Health Committee held on 19th March, 2007, wherein payment rates for independent care homes were agreed.

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN290-2007 recommending that a single care home rate, equal to the older people rate, be adopted.

 

The Committee agreed to the adoption of rates as detailed in the note.

IV OFFICER APPROVAL - TENDERS RECEIVED - STRATHCARRON YOUNG PERSONS UNIT

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN291-2007 reporting for information of the Committee that in view of the timescales involved, the City Architectural Services Officer and the Director of Social Work, after consultation with the Convener and Spokespersons of the other groups, agreed to accept a negotiated contract with Dundee Contract Services for replacement heating at Strathcarron Young Persons' Unit amounting to 34,850, together with allowances of 3,500 for electrical supply changeover cost from supply authority, and 6,150 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 44,500.
