I MUSIC DEVELOPMENT - MAJOR PROJECT GRANTS ALLOCATION 2007-2008
The Director of Leisure and Communities submitted Report No 242-2007 recommending allocations of grant awards from the Music Development Major Projects Fund.
The Committee approved grants totalling 30,500 with Scottish Ensemble receiving a reduced amount of 2,000 and Dundee Musicians Award being increased to 2,000 from the figures detailed in the report.
The Committee therefore approved the undernoted grant allocations:-

II CASTLE GREEN RAILINGS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN119-2007 advising that to complete the perimeter boundary railings at Castle Green, the existing railings on the Castle approach required to be galvanised involving removal, shotblasting, galvanising and re-erection.
The Committee agreed to accept an estimate of 6,000 for the above work from P & G Blacksmiths to enable the refurbishment to be completed before the summer season.
III OFFICER'S APPROVAL - LEISURE CENTRES - LEASE AGREEMENT FOR FITNESS EQUIPMENT
There was submitted Agenda Note AN106-2007 reporting for the information of the Committee that the Director of Leisure and Communities, after consultation with the Convener and Spokespersons of the Other Groups had agreed a four year lease agreement with DG Fitness, Aberdeen equating to an annual sum of 53,280 or, in addition to the existing rental/maintenance agreement, an additional 1,400 per month (16,800 per year) for fitness equipment for Lochee, DISC, Lynch and Douglas Leisure Centres.
IV McTAGGART CENTRE - APPROACH BY SCOTTISH GYMNASTICS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN121-2007 advising that the existing lease for the above Centre to Dundee College was due to terminate on 30th June, 2007 with the College transferring service provision to Gardyne Road.
A letter had been received from Scottish Gymnastics regarding the proposed development of the McTaggart Centre for gymnastics and fitness.
The Committee agreed to remit to the Director of Leisure and Communities to work with Scottish Gymnastics in determining the feasibility of the above project with the objective of bringing forward a subsequent report and potential basis for a Lease Agreement.
V LOCHEE AND BAXTER PARKS - USE BY BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH
There was submitted Agenda Note AN122-2007 advising that an application had been received from the Pastor of Bible Baptist Church to hold an open air preaching meeting at Lochee Park, Ancrum Road between 2nd - 6th July from 4pm - 9pm and at Baxter Park between 6th - 10th August from 4pm - 9pm involving setting up a tent in the Parks around 4pm with the meeting starting at 7pm finishing at 9pm each day and taking the tent down afterwards, together with the use of the Parks Centres undertaken through the normal booking arrangements and charges for the Centres.
The Committee agreed to the use of the Parks subject to the Bible Baptist Church having the appropriate insurance indemnifying the Council and paying for any reinstatement costs or damage to the area and any other charges for services requested from the Council.
The Committee also noted that normal public access would continue to be available.
