I BAXTER PARK RESTORATION PLAN - TENDER FOR PHASE 5 - ARBORICULTURAL WORKS

 

There was submitted Report No 527-2006 by Director of Leisure and Communities seeking approval for Dundee Contract Services to undertake Phase 5 - Arboricultural Works in Baxter Park as part of the park's Restoration Plan.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(a) accept the offer of 6,695 from Dundee Contract Services for Phase 5 - Arboricultural Works; and

 

(b) approve a 5% contingency sum of 335 to be added to the project sum giving a total cost of 7,030.

 

II LAND REFORM (SCOTLAND) ACT 2003 SECTION PROCEDURES - DRAFT

 

There was submitted Report No 529-2006 by Director of Leisure and Communities seeking Committee approval for the processes required to implement the section procedures in the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003: Part 1.

 

The Committee agreed to approve the methods outlined in the appendix of the report for applying the section procedures described.

(a) There was submitted Report No 483-2006 by City Architectural Services Officer seeking approval for the undernoted items:-

(i) CAIRD PARK STADIUM - ALTERATIONS TO FORM OFFICES

 

The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Alexander Oastler Ltd to carry out works for the sum of 44,157.95, together with allowances of 8,988.00 as undernoted, making a total expenditure of 53,145.95:-

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer by Dundee Contract Services to carry out works for the sum of 7,979.00, together with an allowance of 1,278.00 for Professional Services, making a total expenditure of 9,257.00.

 

(iii) DUNDEE CONTEMPORARY ARTS - VENTILATION OF SHOP AREA

 

The Committee agreed to accept the partnership offer by Dundee Contract Services to carry out works for the sum of 5,461.89, together with allowances of 875.00 for Professional Services, making a total expenditure of 6,336.89.

 

The Committee also noted that Dundee Contract Services had listed the undernoted Sub-Contractors:-

(b) There was submitted Report No 532-2006 by City Architectural Engineer seeking approval for the undernoted item:-

The Committee agreed to accept the offer by DC Lighting Services to carry out works for the sum of 36,800.74, together with allowances of 13,199.26 as undernoted, making a total expenditure of 50,000.00:-

IV FIREWORKS DISPLAY - 5TH NOVEMBER, 2006

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN313-2006 advising that an offer based on a three year agreement, for the supply and delivery, firing and associated training for the displays had been received from specialist, Alan Hillary Events, Stanley, County Durham, at an annual cost after discount of 22,356.

 

It was intended to hold two fireworks' displays this year, one at Lochee Park and the other at Baxter Park on Sunday, 5th November, 2006.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer.

 

V CIVIC BUILDING OF THE YEAR AWARD - ATTENDANCE OF ELECTED MEMBERS

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN314-2006 advising that the Park Centre in Baxter Park had been selected as one of four finalists and a possible winner of the Civic Building of the Year Competition organised by the Society of Chief Architects of Local Authorities. The results of the competition would be announced and presentation of the awards made at the President's Dinner at The Deep in Kingston upon Hull, on Thursday, 28th September, 2006.

 

The estimated cost of attendance was 132 each including award dinner, accommodation, subsistence allowance and travel.

 

The Committee agreed that the Convener or Nominee attend this ceremony.
