I HM INSPECTORATE OF EDUCATION - ST PIUS RC PRIMARY SCHOOL - FOLLOW THROUGH INSPECTION

 

There was submitted and noted the HM Inspectorate of Education follow through report on St Pius RC Primary School.

 

II MANAGING DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOUR

 

There was submitted Report No 67-2006 by the Director of Education bringing forward comprehensive guidelines for dealing with disruptive behaviour in schools.

 

The Committee agreed to:-

 

(i) approve the guidelines on the management of disruptive behaviour;

 

(ii) note the revised policy on exclusion from school;

 

(iii) note the review of offsite provision; and

 

(iv) instruct the Director of Education to monitor and evaluate the impact of the revised guidelines and report back to Committee no later than March 2008.

 

III CONTINUATION OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SERVICES WITHIN EARLY YEARS AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES

 

There was submitted Report No 96-2006 by the Assistant Chief Executive (Management), the Director of Education and Director of Leisure and Communities relative to the above.

 

The Committee agreed insofar as its interests were concerned to approve the content of the report and agreed to the continuation of the Sure Start Physical Activity Programme.

 

IV PROVISION OF FUNDING TO SUPPORT DELIVERY OF CHILDCARE SERVICES BY CHILDCARE AT HOME DUNDEE(FORMERLY DUNDEE SITTER SERVICE)

 

There was submitted Report No 97-2006 by the Director of Education seeking approval to award funding to continue the provision of home based flexible childcare to low income families where parents were in work or education.

 

The Committee agreed to approve the proposals to continue to develop existing provision to support the care of young children in their own homes.

 

V RETAINING RESERVED PLACES IN SCHOOLS 2006-2007

 

Reference was made to Article V of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th February 2001 where approval was given to retain reserved places in certain schools to accommodate children moving into the catchment area during the school year.

 

There was submitted Report No 66-2006 by the Director of Education reviewing the allocation of reserved places and proposing an allocation of reserved places for Session 2006-2007.

 

The Committee agreed to approve the proposals to reserve places in schools as set out in Appendix I of the report for Session 2006-2007 noted below with the exception of Barnhill Primary School which was remitted back to the Director of Education for further consideration:-

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 5, 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

VI REQUEST FOR EDUCATION AT HOME

 

(a) There was submitted Report No 93-2006 by the Director of Education bringing to the attention of the Committee an application for the provision of education at home.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the application for education at home.

 

(b) There was submitted Report No 94-2006 by the Director of Education bringing to the attention of the Committee an application for the provision of education at home.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the application for education at home.

 

VII GROUND AT LONGHAUGH SCHOOLHOUSE, LONGHAUGH ROAD, DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Report No 68-2006 by the Director of Economic Development seeking approval for the sale of ground at Longhaugh Schoolhouse, Longhaugh Road, Dundee.

 

The Committee approved the sale of ground at the agreed price.
