The minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th December 2005 was held as read.

I COUNT ME IN, NUMERACY PROJECT FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN

 

There was submitted Report No 49-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities informing the Committee of the continued success of the Count Me In 123 Numeracy Project which had completed its first year of delivery and seeking approval for the extension of the project to include primary school children (4, 5, 6) and a 16+ Project.

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report which outlined the success of the numeracy project and approved the introduction of the numeracy projects 4, 5, 6 and 16+.

 

II NON-RECURRING REVENUE GRANTS FUND V 2005/2006

 

There was submitted Report No 53-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities making a recommendation for a grant award from the Non-Recurring Revenue Grants Fund. The grant award would be met from the Department's Revenue Budget 2005/2006.

 

The Committee approved payment of the recommended grant of 1,151 to Young Quality Scot Awards Group (Dundee City).

 

III COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN20-2006 advising that the Director of Leisure and Communities had been invited by the Secretary of State to serve as a Trustee of the Community Development Foundation for a period of three years. The Community Development Foundation was a national non-departmental public body sponsored by the Home Office to advise Government on matters of policy and practice relating to community development. The Scottish Trustee also acted as chair of the Scottish Community Development Centre. All direct costs arising from this appointment would be met by the Home Office.

 

The Committee approved the appointment.

 

IV EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY GRANT FUND III 2005/2006

 

There was submitted Report No 65-2006 by the Director of Leisure and Communities making a recommendation for a grant award from the Equality and Diversity Fund. The grant award would be met from the Department's Revenue Budget 2005/2006.

 

The Committee approved payment of the recommended grant of 1,250 to the Tayside Hindu Cultural and Community Centre.
