The minute of meeting of this Committee of 21st November 2005 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

The Convener agreed that the undernoted items be considered as a matter of urgency in terms of Standing Order No. 17(b) in view of the timescales involved.

 

I TENDERS RECEIVED

 

There was submitted Report No. 742-2005 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision thereon:-

 

(i) HARRIS ACADEMY - UPGRADE OF FEMALE STAFF TOILETS

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer from Dundee Contract Services for upgrading female staff toilets at Harris Academy for 15,500.00 together with an allowance of 2,171.00 for professional services making a total expenditure of 17,671.00.

 

(ii) VARIOUS SCHOOLS - REFURBISHMENT OF SCIENCE LABS

 

The Committee agreed to accept the negotiated offer from Dundee Contract Services for refurbishment of Science Labs at various schools for 167,800.00 together with allowances of 9,000.00 for data cabling and 23,200.00 for professional services making a total expenditure of 200,000.00.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

II EDUCATION DEPARTMENT - REVIEW OF SENIOR MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

 

There was submitted Report No. 745-2005 by the Director of Education and Assistant Chief Executive (Management) reviewing the Senior Management Structure of the Education Department.

 

The Committee approved the report insofar as its interests were concerned. In addition following recent comment in the press on what was a confidential report the Chief Executive was remitted to investigate the source of the leak to the press.
