II SUPPORT FOR THE OUT OF SCHOOL CARE INFRASTRUCTURE

 

There was submitted Report No 694-2005 by the Director of Education seeking approval to continue to provide support for the Out of School Care Infrastructure.

 

The Committee approved the report and the award of funding as outlined in Appendix 1 of the report shown below:-

III PROVISION OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO PARENT AND TODDLER GROUPS

 

Councillor Webster declared a non-financial interest in respect of St James's Parent and Toddler Group by virtue of him being Session Clerk at St James's Parish Church.

 

There was submitted Report No 695-2005 by the Director of Education seeking approval to provide Childcare Strategy Funding to local Parent and Toddler groups.

IV MANAGING UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR IN SCHOOLS

 

There was submitted Report No 703-2005 by the Director of Education informing the Committee that additional measures were required to deal with pupils whose behaviour was wholly unacceptable.

 

The Committee agreed to:

 

(i) note the contents of the report;

 

(ii) instruct the Director of Education to share and discuss the report with all relevant departments and agencies, including the Chief Constable of Tayside Police;

 

(iii) approve the proposal to review the guidelines on exclusion;

 

(iv) approve the proposal to plan and implement an anti-violence poster campaign in schools; and

 

(v) note that the Director of Education would bring a detailed report to the Education Committee in January 2006 on the management of disruptive behaviour incorporating a review of the policy on the management of pupils with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, first approved in 2001.
