I DUNDEE COMMUNITY SAFETY PARTNERSHIP AWARD PROGRAMME 2005/2008 APPROVALS
There was submitted Report No 428-2005 by the Head of Communities advising the Committee on the success of the 2005/2008 funding bid to the Scottish Executive for a three year rolling programme under approved criteria outlined in the Community Safety Partnership Award Programme. The Scottish Executive had approved the Community Safety Partnership Award Programme funding for a further three years at 138,275 per annum subject to ongoing annual review of outcomes.
The Committee noted the award approval based on set criteria and also noted the 2004/2005 Annual Report of the Dundee Community Safety Partnership.
II NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS FUND IV 2005/2006
There was submitted Report No 480-2005 by the Head of Communities making recommendations for grant awards from the National Organisations Fund. The grant awards would be met from the Department's Revenue Budget 2005/2006.

III TENDERS RECEIVED
There was submitted Report No 476-2005 by the City Architectural Services Officer detailing tenders received and requesting a decision on acceptance thereof:-
(a) CHARLESTON NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE REFURBISHMENT
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Torith Limited, Dundee for refurbishment of the Charleston Neighbourhood Centre of 727,422 together with allowances of 93,578 for professional and other services, making a total expenditure of 821,000.
The Committee noted that Torith Limited, Dundee had listed Jaydee Heating and Electrical Limited as a sub-contractor.
(b) MITCHELL STREET CENTRE ALTERATIONS
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer from Forman Construction Limited for alterations to the Mitchell Street Centre for 28,000 together with allowances of 4,500 for professional services, giving a total expenditure of 32,500.
IV LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SERVICES: "A SAFE PLACE FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNGPEOPLE"
There was submitted Report No 481-2005 by the Head of Communities seeking adoption of the policy document "A Safe Place for Children and Young People" in relation to the use by children and young people of the Communities Department's Library and Information Services. The aim of the guidelines was to provide staff with a clear understanding of their duty of care for children and young people using library premises, to provide managers with guidance in the promotion of safety in libraries and to ensure the creation of environments in which children and young people felt comfortable and secure.
The Committee approved the policy document "A Safe Place for Children and Young People" to operate within the Communities Department.
