The minute of meeting of this Committee of 8th November, 2004 was held as read.
Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.
I SUB-CONTRACTORS AND SUPPLY OF MATERIALS
There was submitted Report No 785-2004 by the Director of Dundee Contract Services listing details of Sub-Contractors and Suppliers of Materials to Dundee Contract Services for the value of 10,000 and over.
The Committee noted the contents of the report.
II SUPPLY OF NEW VEHICLES 2004/2005
The Committee agreed to suspend Standing Orders in order to deal with this item.
There was submitted Agenda Note AN456-2004. Reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 8th November, 2004 where it was agreed to purchase new vehicles.
Prior to accepting an offer from A M Phillips, Muiryfaulds, for the supply of one 7.5T Tipper, further assessment allowed for the purchase of an alternative loader system resulting in a saving of 1,000 reducing the price to 30,220.
The Committee noted accordingly.
III KELLYFIELD PARK - ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS
There was submitted Agenda Note AN458-2004 informing the Committee of proposed environmental improvements to Kellyfield Park.
The work, estimated to cost 29,140, would be met from the provision of 100,000 allowed for public open spaces under the Quality of Life funding in 2004/2005.
The Committee agreed that the work be carried out by Dundee Contract Services at an estimated cost of 29,140.
IV BALUNIEFIELD OPEN SPACES - LANDSCAPING
There was submitted Agenda Note AN459-2004 informing the Committee that the former toddlers play areas in the Baluniefield Housing Scheme were closed in 1999 as part of the Council's programme on the rationalisation of playgrounds. These sites would be landscaped to provide seating areas for local residents by providing new surfacing, seats and planting.
The work, estimated to cost 9,333, would be met from the provision of 100,000 allowed for public open spaces under the Quality of Life funding in 2004/2005.
The Committee agreed that the works be carried out by Dundee Contract Services at an estimated cost of 9,333.
V KEMNAY GARDENS - FORMER PLAYGROUND
There was submitted Agenda Note AN460-2004 informing the Committee that as part of the Council's programme on the rationalisation of children's playgrounds throughout the City, the Kemnay Gardens playground was closed with only the equipment being removed. Proposals for the site have been designed to provide off-street parking facilities for the local residents as well as landscaping the remainder of the site.
The work, estimated to cost 33,000, would be funded from an allowance of 50,000 under the Quality of Life Projects for landscaping of former playground sites in 2004/2005.
The Committee agreed that the works be carried out by Dundee Contract Services at an estimated cost of 33,000.
The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.
VI SEABRAES WALKWAY TO DUNDEE DIGITAL MEDIA PARK
There was submitted Agenda Note AN457-2004. Reference was made to Articles IX, XII and X of the Economic Development, Leisure and Arts Services and Planning and Transportation Committees on 16th, 23rd and 30th August, 2004 wherein members approved inter alia to grant a licence to Scottish Enterprise to occupy land owned by the Council at Seabraes to carry out infrastructure works to provide a new pedestrian link from Perth Road to the new Digital Media Park over the Council's land and adjacent land in Scottish Enterprise's ownership.
In view of the urgency in granting the licence to enable Scottish Enterprise to let the contract for the works, approval was given by the Director of Dundee Contract Services in consultation with the Convener and Spokespersons for the other Groups.
The Committee noted accordingly.
LORD PROVOST JOHN R LETFORD, Convener.
