I MINUTE OF MEETING OF CASES SUB-COMMITTEE OF 26TH OCTOBER, 2004

 

The minute of meeting of the Cases Sub-Committee of 26th October 2004 was submitted and noted for information and record purposes, a copy of which is attached as an Appendix to this minute.

 

II SUPPORT TO CARERS

 

There was submitted Report No 760-2004 by the Director of Social Work informing of the Scottish Executive Draft Guidance on NHS Carer Information Strategies and the work being undertaken within the Social Work Department in relation to Carers' issues.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i)that the content of the report be noted; and

 

(ii)that the actions planned by the Director of Social Work to achieve better outcomes for carers in the City be endorsed.

 

III WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND RECOGNITION

 

There was submitted Report No 761-2004 by the Director of Social Work on progress made in the training and recognition of the Social Work Department workforce.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i)that the content of the report be noted; and

 

(ii)that the Director of Social Work be supported in his efforts to deliver a high quality service by recruiting and maintaining a skilled workforce.

 

IV DEVELOPMENTS WITHIN THE STAFF SUPPORT SERVICE

 

There was submitted Report No 762-2004 by the Director of Social Work on developments taking place within the department that were designed to support staff more effectively within the workplace.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i)that the positive work being undertaken in partnership to improve the health of the workforce be endorsed; and

 

(ii)that the department be supported in pursuing Scotland's Health at Work Silver Award.

 

V DELAYED DISCHARGE INTERIM REPORT

 

There was submitted Report No 756-2004 by the Director of Social Work on the progress that had been made towards reducing delayed discharges in Dundee.

 

The Committee agreed:-

 

(i)that the progress that had been made towards reducing delayed discharges be noted; and

 

(ii)that the actions that the Director of Social Work would take to continue to minimise delayed discharges be endorsed.

 

VI CRITERIA FOR PROVISION OF EQUIPMENT AND ADAPTATIONS

 

On a reference to Article IV of the minute of the Housing Committee of 15th November, 2004 there was submitted Joint Report No 652-2004 by the Director of Social Work and the Director of Housing outlining the developing issues regarding the assessment for and provision of equipment and adaptations and recommended changes which would ensure equity and consistency of provision across a broader range of needs.

 

The Committee agreed that the revision to assessment and provision arrangements as detailed in the report be approved.
