The minute of meeting of this Committee of 13th September, 2004 was held as read.

I STOBSWELL TENEMENT CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE SERVICE

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 692-2004 advising the Committee of proposals to address property maintenance issues in Stobswell and seeking approval for the nomination of two Directors to the Stobswell Social Enterprise Company.

 

The Committee approved the nomination of the Principal Policy Officer (Economic Development) and the Principal Housing Officer (Policy and Plans) to the Board of the company and further approved the purchase of 50 1 shares.

 

II CCTV CAPITAL EXPENDITURE 2004/2005

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 693-2004 outlining proposals for capital expenditure on CCTV in financial year 2004/05 and seeking approval to accept quotations for the works involved.

 

The Committee approved:-

 

(a) the relocation of the camera removed from Bell Street.

 

(b) the relocation of the camera removed from Kellyfield Court, Whitfield.

 

(c) the absorption of the existing Police owned camera at Downfield Police Station into the Dundee City Council Public Space Closed Circuit Surveillance System; and

 

(d) the acceptance of quotations from the existing CCTV maintenance contractor, ADT Fire and Security Plc, to carry out the work. for a total expenditure of 39,661.12.

 

III EXTENSION OF THE MAIN APRON AT DUNDEE AIRPORT

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 695-2004 requesting approval for the letting of a contract for the extension of the main apron at Dundee Airport.

 

The Committee agreed that a Partnership Agreement should be entered into with Tayside Contracts for the construction of the extension to the main apron within a maximum price of 80,000 including fees.

 

IV WORKING FOR FAMILIES - TENDERS FOR NURSERY CRISIS CARE PROVISION, MONEY ADVICE SUPPORT, ROVING CRECHEWORKERS

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 714-2004 advising the Committee of the outcome of tendering procedures in respect of the above.

 

The Committee agreed that:-

 

(a) the Roving Creche Provision be delivered by One Parent Families Scotland.

 

(b) the Money Advice Support Project be delivered by Dundee City Council's Welfare Rights Team and

 

(c) direct negotiations be entered into with appropriate providers in relation to Nursery Crisis Care Provision.

 

The Committee also noted that funding was coming from the Working For Families budget, awarded to the City Council by the Scottish Executive, as undernoted:-

V TENDERS RECEIVED

 

The Committee agreed to withdraw this item.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted items of business on the grounds that they involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

 

VI COMMERCIAL LEASES

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 690-2004 by the Director of Economic Development detailing commercial leases in respect of the undernoted premises:-

Unit 1 Mid Wynd

 

VII RENT REVIEWS

 

There was submitted and approved Report No 691-2004 by the Director of Economic Development detailing the review of rent in respect of the undernoted premises:-

 

1.4 Acre Site, Piper Street, Baldovie Industrial Estate

135 Kingsway East

86 Ballindean Road

0.7 Acres, Piper Street.

 

VIII MINOR CAPITAL ACQUISITIONS OF CURRENTLY LEASED ITEMS AT DUNDEE AIRPORT

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted Report No 696-2004 requesting approval to purchase two items currently leased by Dundee Airport as a revenue cost saving measure.

 

The Committee approved the purchases as detailed.

 

IX 25A BALUNIEFIELD ROAD, DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN404-2004 advising the Committee that the City Council was Feu Superior to premises at the above address and an application had been received for a Minute of Waiver.

 

The Committee approved the application on the terms and conditions detailed.

 

X 0.38 HA (0.93 ACRE) OR THEREBY, SITE AT FOWLER ROAD, WEST PITKERRO INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, DUNDEE

 

There was submitted Agenda Note AN405-2004 advising that the Director of Economic Development had negotiated the sale of the above site to an interested company on the terms and conditions detailed.

 

The Committee approved the sale of the site and remitted to the Depute Chief Executive (Support Services) to conclude the necessary legal formalities.
