I CARPET BEDDING SCHEMES 2003
There was submitted Agenda Note AN260-2002 advising that the Leisure and Arts Department had sites available for carpet bedding schemes at the McManus Galleries Gardens in 2003 and that traditionally these beds were planted to celebrate local or national events or charities. Requests had been received from Couple Counselling Tayside (originally known as The Dundee Marriage Guidance) to celebrate 50 years of service to the community and the Trefoil Guild to celebrate their Diamond Jubilee.
The Committee approved the two requests.
II DUNDEE ICE ARENA - REVENUE SUPPORT 2002/2003
The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 744-2002 requesting revenue funding to Dundee Ice Arena for the year 2002 to 2003.
The Committee approved grant funding of 42,000.
III BAXTER PARK RESTORATION PLAN/TENDER FOR ARBORICULTURAL WORKS YEAR ONE
The Director of Leisure and Arts submitted Report No 743-2002 giving details of offers received to carry out the above works.
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Dundee Contract Services amounting to 14,569.09 to which required to be added a contingency allowance of 437.88, giving a total cost of 15,006.97.
IV TENDERS RECEIVED
The City Architectural Services Officer submitted Report No 728-2002 giving details of offers received for the undernoted contracts:-
(a) DOUGLAS SPORTS CENTRE - SPORTS HALL LIGHTING
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by D H Morris Limited amounting to 13,831.63 to which required to be added an allowance for professional services of 2,330, making a total expenditure of 16,161.63.
(b) PARK HOUSES (VARIOUS) - UPGRADING
The Committee agreed to accept a negotiated offer by Dundee Contract Services amounting to 7,955 to which required to be added allowances of 2,500 for floor covering and electrical repairs and 1,340 for professional services, making a total expenditure of 11,795.
(c) BAXTER PARK - MAIN PAVILION REFURBISHMENT - ROOF REPAIRS
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Forman Construction amounting to 120,075.84 to which required to be added allowances of 9,500 for roof mounted services, 5,250 for contingencies, 378 for building warrant, 25,012 for professional services and 2,028 for structural engineering services, making a total expenditure of 162,243.84.
The Committee also noted that Forman Construction Limited had listed the undernoted sub-contractors:-

Angus Decorating, Arbroath - Painter.
(d) BAXTER PARK - TENNIS PAVILION REFURBISHMENT - WEB PROJECT
The Committee agreed to accept the lowest offer by Taycon Construction Limited amounting to 99,887.99 to which required to be added allowances of 826 for building warrant, 16,625 for professional services and 1,000 for structural engineering services, making a total expenditure of 118,338.99.
The Committee also noted that Taycon Construction Limited had listed the undernoted sub-contractors:-

Taylor Mechanical Services - Heating etc

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.
V LEASE OF CAIRD PARK GOLF SHOP
There was submitted Agenda Note AN262-2002 advising that the current tenant of the above shop had applied to enter into a new Lease Agreement and, after consultation with the Director of Leisure and Arts, it had been provisionally agreed to enter into a new Lease Agreement on the terms and conditions stated.
The Committee approved accordingly and instructed the Director of Economic Development to conclude the necessary terms and conditions of the Lease Agreement.
