The Committee authorised the Director to carry out the work should the owners not comply within the time allowed within the notices.

 

II PROVISION OF ASH RECYCLING FACILITIES

 

There was submitted Report No 800-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking authority to enter into contractual arrangements for the recycling of bottom ash which was generated at the DERL Waste to Energy Plant.

 

The Committee authorised acceptance of an offer from Ennstone Thistle Ltd, Forfar for recycling facilities for the ash.

 

III PROVISION OF DISPOSAL FACILITIES

 

There was submitted Report No 799-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking authority to enter into contractual arrangements for the direct disposal of residual waste material which was unsuitable for recylcing or incineration, and to provide contingency disposal arrangements via local transfer stations for domestic and commercial waste in the event of any shutdown period of the DERL Waste to Energy Plant.

 

The Committee accepted the offers (No. 4 **, No. 4 *** and No. 4 ****) from SITA Tyne and Wear as set out in the appendix to the report and authorised the Director of Support Services to conclude a contract with the successful tenderer.

 

IV FORMER BALDOVIE INCINERATOR - REFURBISHMENT PROJECT

 

This report was withdrawn.

 

V LEASE OF PRESSURE WASHER, MARCHBANKS

 

It was reported for information that the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection, following consultation with the Director of Finance, the Convener and spokespersons from the Major and Minor Opposition Groups, authorised the lease of a power washer and two air compressors at a combined estimated total of 1,600 per annum.

 

The Committee noted accordingly.
