I PURCHASE OF ION CHROMATOGRAPHY EQUIPMENT

 

There was submitted Report No. 797-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking approval for Scientific Services to purchase Ion Chromatography equipment from Metrohm UK Limited.

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer amounting to 14,963 from Metrohm UK Limited for the provision of Ion Chromatography equipment.

 

II INSTALLATION OF STATIC AIR QUALITY STATION ON BROUGHTY FERRY ROAD, DUNDEE

 

Reference was made to Article II of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 19th November 2001 wherein the Committee agreed the expenditure associated with the installation costs and architectural services fees for a Static Air Quality Unit at a site in Broughty Ferry Road.

 

The Committee noted that following advice from Scottish Hydro-Electric about installation matters, the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection, in consultation with the Convener and the spokespersons from the Major and Minor Opposition Groups had approved the revised installation costs of 6,500.

 

III AMENDMENTS TO DELEGATION OF POWERS TO OFFICERS

 

There was submitted Report No. 757-2001 by the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection seeking approval to make amendments to the delegation of powers for certain activities undertaken by officers from the Environmental and Consumer Protection Department.

 

The Committee agreed the proposed amendments to the delegation of powers to the Director of Environmental and Consumer Protection as detailed in the report.

VI DISPOSAL OF REFRIGERATORS AND OZONE-DEPLETING SUBSTANCES

 

The Committee agreed the proposal to store refrigerators at Unit F, Strathmartine Road, Dundee until full guidance was made available from the Scottish Executive on the removal of ozone depleting substances from the refrigeration equipment and the subsequent disposal of refrigeration equipment.

 

The Committee also approved the charges to be applied when collecting fridges from domestic and non-domestic sources.

 

VII PURCHASE OF TWO COMPACTOR CONTAINERS

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer amounting to 3,388 per unit from Randalls Fabrication Limited for the provision of two replacement compactors for the Marchbanks Reclamation Plant.
