The minute of meeting of this Committee of 16th April, 2001 was held as read.

 

Unless marked thus * all items stand delegated.

 

Dundee City Council had won an important national award for championing public information. For the second year in a row, the Council's website, www.dundeecity.gov.uk had won the Society for Public Information Networks' award for Best Local Authority Website in Scotland.

 

Councillor Regan congratulated those involved and presented the award, an engraved silver cup, to Moira Methven, of the Neighbourhood Resources and Development Department.

 

I SOCIAL INCLUSION PARTNERSHIPS ALLOCATION OF RESOURCES 2001/2002

 

There was submitted Report No. 286-2001 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development bringing forward proposals for the further allocation of Social Inclusion Partnership (SIP) revenue funding and awards from the Small Grants Programme 2001/2002.

 

The Committee noted the recommendations of the Dundee Partnership Community Regeneration Group in progressing one deferred proposal from SIP1 Revenue Funding for 2001/2002 as detailed in Appendix A and agreed the award of SIP1 and 2 Small Revenue Grants as set out in Appendices B and C.

 

II DISABLED ACCESS 2001/2002 PHASE 1

 

There was submitted Report No. 287-2001 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development seeking authority for the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development to obtain offers and tenders to improve disabled access to Departmental facilities and services in the current year up to a total cost of 25,000 and to approve acceptance of these offers and tenders in conjunction with the City Architectural Services Officer.

 

The Committee agreed that the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development be authorised to approve acceptance of the offers and tenders as recommended by the City Architectural Services Officer in conjunction with the Convener and Spokespersons from the Majority and Minority Opposition Groups for works unable to be undertaken by Dundee Contract Services.

 

III PLANNED MAINTENANCE 2001/2002 PHASE 1

 

There was submitted Report No. 288-2001 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development seeking approval for the City Architectural Services Officer to obtain offers and tenders, and for the Director of Support Services in conjunction with the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development to accept these offers and tenders for Planned Maintenance Works up to a total cost of 30,000.

 

The Committee approved the following recommendations:-

 

(a)that the City Architectural Services Officer be authorised to obtain offers and tenders for the Planned Maintenance Works;

 

(b)that the Director of Support Services, in conjunction with the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development, be authorised to accept the offers and tenders as recommended by the City Architectural Services Officer for works unable to be undertaken by Dundee Contract Services.

 

IV NATIONAL ORGANISATIONS FUND 1 2001/2002

 

At its meeting on 10th February, 1997, the Committee approved the criteria and procedures for the Department's grant aid portfolio (Report No. 127-1997 refers).

 

There was submitted Report No. 289-2001 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development recommending specific grant awards which could be met from the relevant revenue budget 2001/2002.

 

The Committee approved payment of the following grants:-

V ADMINISTRATIVE GRANTS TO COMMUNITY COUNCILS 2001/2002

 

There was submitted Report No. 290-2001 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development seeking approval for the payment of administrative grants for the financial year April 2001 to March 2002 to Community Councils in existence or established during the year and to confirm the formula for payment.

 

The Committee approved the following recommendations:-

 

(a)that administrative grants be awarded to all Community Councils currently in existence or established during 2001/2002 in accordance with the Dundee City Council Scheme for the Operation of Community Councils (Report No. 332-1997 refers);

 

(b)that grants are awarded according to the following formula: a lump sum of 300 per Community Council plus 1.2 pence per resident in each Council's area (see Appendix 1 of the report);

 

(c)that an administration grant of 400 is awarded to the Association of Dundee Community Councils.

VI NON-RECURRING REVENUE GRANTS FUND 1 2001/2002

 

At its meeting on 10th February, 1997, the Committee approved the criteria and procedures for the Department's grant aid portfolio (Report No. 127-1997 refers).

 

There was submitted Report No. 291-2001 by the Director of Neighbourhood Resources and Development containing details of a recommended specific grant award which could be met from the relevant revenue budget 2001/2002.

 

The Committee approved payment of a grant of 2,000 to the Balerno Activities Group Douglas/Craigie.
