I MINUTE OF MEETING OF ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SOCIAL WORK) OF 26TH FEBRUARY, 2001

 

There was submitted and noted the minute of meeting of the Advisory Committee (Social Work) of 26th February, 2001.

 

II ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SOCIAL WORK) - MEMBERSHIP

 

Reference was made to Article IV(iii) of the minute of meeting of the Advisory Committee (Social Work) of 26th February, 2001 wherein it was reported that difficulties were being experienced in recruiting and maintaining meaningful representation from service users.

 

It was therefore agreed that Dundee Independent Advocacy Service be invited to nominate a representative who would represent service users on the Advisory Committee.

 

IIIRATES OF PAYMENT FOR INDEPENDENT SECTOR RESIDENTIAL AND NURSING HOME CARE 2001/2002

 

There was submitted Report No 238-2001 by the Director of Social Work proposing revised payment rates for independent sector residential and nursing home care.

 

The Committee agreed that:-

 

(i)Payments made to independent sector residential and nursing homes be increased by 2.5% on average, backdated to 9th April, 2001 in accordance with the detailed recommendations in Appendix 2 to the report.

 

(ii)The Director of Social Work be instructed to institute a process inviting applications from independent sector providers to meet identified needs in relation to placements for people with dementia and elderly mental illness (EMI), in line with the integrated solution to the needs of older people proposed through the Older People Working Group Report.

IVSECONDMENT OF MEMBER OF STAFF TO SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE

 

It was reported that a Service Manager for Older People's Services had been selected to work for the Scottish Executive for a period of one year, as part of a team developing a framework and tools for single shared assessment and resource use to be taken forward under the joint oversight of the Assistant Chief Inspector of the Community Care Group and the Chief Nursing Officer.

 

The Social Work Committee approved the secondment, and noted that the Health Department would meet the secondment costs.
