I DEPARTMENTAL EDUCATION POLICY

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No 87-2001 outlining the Department's Education Policy in relation to city-wide provision of arts, cultural and heritage initiatives both directly delivered and in partnership with other local and national agencies.

 

The Committee approved the Arts and Heritage Department's Education Policy and agreed that it be implemented with immediate effect.

 

II McMANUS GALLERIES - HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND BID

 

On a reference to Article V of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 12th September 2000 the Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No 138-2001 seeking authority to submit a Phase One bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for the restoration and development of McManus Galleries.

 

The Committee authorised the Director of Arts and Heritage to proceed to submit a Phase One bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund as outlined in the report.

 

III HERE AND NOW - POST-WAR SCOTTISH ART IV

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No 162-2001 informing the Committee of the success of the partners of the Post-War Scottish Art Consortium in securing a grant of 20,000 from the Scottish Arts Council to the Arts and Heritage Department to support the exhibition "Here and Now".

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report.

 

IV "COMING TO OUR SENSES" EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMME

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No 173-2001 informing the Committee of the developing education and outreach programme both in preparation for and during the Coming to Our Senses Exhibition to be held at the McManus Galleries from 30th March to 17th June 2001.

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report.

 

V DUNDEE VISUAL ARTS AWARDS SCHEME

 

The Director of Arts and Heritage submitted Report No 174-2001 informing the Committee of the outcome of the first year of the award scheme.

 

The Committee noted the contents of the report.

 

The Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public and press be excluded from the meeting for the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 6 and 9 of Part I of Schedule 7(A) of the Act.

 

VI CAIRD HALL CATERING FRANCHISE

 

The Director of Economic Development submitted six offers which had been received for the above catering franchise.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the highest offer, subject to satisfactory completion of legal formalities.
