I REVENUE BUDGET 2001/2002

 

There was submitted -

 

(i) Provisional Revenue Budget Volume 2000/2001 (Report No. 171-2001)

(ii) Extract from the Review of Charges (Report No. 172-2001)

(iii) Report No. 92-2001 by the Director of Finance

 

The Convener, seconded by Councillor Grant, moved that the Committee -

 

(i)notes paragraph 8 of the Director of Finance's report, wherein the additional funding in 2001/02 for the McCrone teachers' pay settlement is estimated to be 1.205m;

 

(ii)notes the budget amendments relating to the Education Department, as detailed in Appendix A to the Director of Finance's report;

 

(iii)recommends to the Special Policy and Resources Committee hereafter that the Education Department's 2001/02 Provisional Revenue Budget be approved at 70.969m after the inclusion of the additional funding of 1.205m for the McCrone settlement;

 

(iv)notes that the Scottish Executive has yet to announce the final element of funding for the McCrone teachers' pay settlement in 2001/02 and, when announced, this will be included in the Education Department's 2001/02 Revenue Budget; and

 

(v)agrees that the Review of Charges, as detailed below, totalling 109,000, be recommended to the Special Policy and Resources Committee hereafter for approval and inclusion in the Education Department's 2001/02 Revenue Budget.

School Meal Charges

 

 

 

 

A 5p increase in the price of school meals from 16 April 2001 with a further increase of 5p per meal from 14 August 2001 would result in approximate savings of 104,000 in financial year 2001/02. The last increase in school meal charges was effected in August 1999.

As an amendment, Councillor Dave Beattie, seconded by Councillor Fordyce, whilst agreeing Items (i) and (iv) of the motion moved that the Review of Charges, as detailed in Item (v) of the motion, be amended to total 64,000, as outlined below.
