Warning around dead sea birds

Warning around dead sea birds Image

Dundee City Council is working with partner agencies following reports of dead sea birds on the Dundee City coast as well as in other parts of the country.

Risks can arise from dead or ill sea birds, and therefore members of the public are being reminded not to touch any dead or sick wild birds, and to keep pets away from the sea birds in order to stay safe.

Avian Influenza has not currently been ruled out, and so it remains vitally important that the advice is followed at all times.

Any instances of dead wild birds should be reported directly to DEFRA through their phoneline: 03459 335577.

If you find a live but sick or injured bird, please call the SSPCA on 03000 999 999 (Option 1).

Further information about Avian influenza, also known as bird flu, can be found on the UK Government website.
