The Hollins Room content
The Marriage Room is situated in the centre of Dundee, overlooking the new Slessor Gardens and car parking is readily available at Gellatly Street and the foot of Castle Street.
Alfred Hollins (1865-1942)
Alfred Hollins designed the celebrated pipe organ for the Caird Hall that was inaugurated in 1923. Alfred was blind and overcame this to become a world renowned concert pianist and organist, as well as organ designer and composer travelling the world.
Amongst his compositions are many 'wedding pieces' dedicated to friends who were to be married and it is because of this musical interest in the happiness of these events that it is thought appropriate to dedicate this room to Alfred Hollins. It was a wonderful way to give a wedding gift to the couples and it is hoped the happiness will be reflected in the occasions taking place in this room set aside within the Caird Hall to celebrate marriages.
