AIMS: DIAS is an independent local charity for people who experience disadvantage, disability and social exclusion within the Dundee area to express their needs and wishes around their health and wellbeing. DIAS uses trained staff and volunteers to champion individual rights, to strengthen their voice and to influence their outcomes. We are an Adult service for those aged over 21 years of age who particularly have a mental health illness, learning and/or physical disability, Over 65Ò€ℒs and those with dementia. We prioritise those who are unable to support themselves and who have no-one independent to support them.

OTHER INFO: We welcome enquiries from members of the public interested in becoming a Volunteer Advocate or who may have the requisite skills and experience to become a Trustee of our Board.

What They Do:
After selection and our induction training course, volunteers become citizen advocates. They are matched on a one-to-one basis with a vulnerable person who needs support to make his/her views and wishes known. Ongoing support and supervision are provided by paid project staff.

Restrictions:
Over 18 years and able to give a commitment of at least two years.
