I DECLARATION OF INTEREST

There were no declarations of interest.

II CAMPERDOWN PARK - RESTORATION OF SECTION OF PERIMETER WALL

There was submitted Agenda Note AN163-2015, wherein it was advised that following an inspection by the City Engineers, the north-west section of the wall at Camperdown which bordered the Coupar Angus Road was deemed to be in poor condition and in need of restoration. It was therefore proposed to carry out works, including the rebuilding of a section of the wall and repointing a length of approximately 30 metres in order to prevent further deterioration and to ensure the integrity of the wall in the long-term. The condition of the wall had also been affected by nearby trees and crown lifting would require to be carried out on the trees which were affecting the integrity of the wall. Camperdown wall is a Grade A listed structure and the Councils Conservation Officer was content with the proposed works.

A quote was sought from the Construction Services Division within the Environment Department for the wall restoration works, and it was estimated that the cost for the works required would be approximately 25,889. In addition, a quote for the tree works, including contingencies of 4,630, was received from the Environmental Management Division.

The Executive Director of Corporate Services advised that the above costs of 30,519 could be met from allowances for Parks and Open Space within the Environment Departments Capital Budget 2015/2016. It was recommended that the above proposals be approved and the Director of Environment be authorised to undertake these works.

The Committee approved the recommendations accordingly.

III SUPPLY OF RECYCLING CONTAINERS

There was submitted Report No 292-2015 by the Director of Environment seeking approval for the purchase of recycling containers as required by Dundee City Council to ensure the implementation of the second phase of the Improvement and Expansion of Domestic Recycling Services as specified In Article II of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 21st April, 2014.

The Committee noted the content of the report and approved the purchase of the recycling containers detailed in Appendix 1.

IV SUPPLY OF PLANT AND VEHICLES 2015/2016

There was submitted Report No 291-2015 by the Director of Environment seeking approval for the purchase of vehicles as required by Dundee City Council to ensure ongoing operational efficiency and to support the delivery of front line services.

The Committee approved the purchase of the vehicles listed in Appendix 1, at a total cost of 268,551.

Vari McDONALD, Depute Convener.
