At MEETINGS of the PERSONNEL APPOINTMENTS SUB-COMMITTEE of the PERSONNEL AND MANAGEMENT SERVICES COMMITTEE held at Dundee on 24th March, 9th June and 22nd August, 2008.

I SUBSTITUTES

It was reported that for the purpose of these meetings only, Councillor Bidwell would substitute for Bailie Regan.

The Sub-Committee resolved under Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 that the public be excluded from the undernoted item of business on the grounds that it involved the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Act.

II APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

At the meeting on 24th March, 2008 there was submitted Report No 207-2008 by the Chief Executive seeking approval for filling the post of Director of Education.

The Sub-Committee agreed the provisional timetable for the recruitment exercise as detailed in the report and approved the appointment of SOLACE Enterprises to act as expert consultants and advisers to the Council.

At the meeting on 9th June, 2008 there was submitted copies of the applications received together with an evaluation report from SOLACE Enterprises.

The Sub-Committee agreed the candidates to be invited for interview on 22nd August, 2008.

At the meeting held on 22nd August, 2008, the Sub-Committee interviewed the candidates. Following an exchange of views and after hearing the Officers, the Sub-Committee unanimously agreed to offer the post to Mr J Collins who intimated his acceptance.
