The minute of meeting of this Committee of 10th March, 2003 was held as read.

I EDUCATION DEPARTMENT - RESTRUCTURING OF SWIMMING POOL SERVICES

 

There was submitted Joint Report No 264-2003 by the Director of Personnel and Management Services and Director of Education seeking approval to restructure the swimming pool staffing and service within the Education Department.

 

The Committee agreed that:-

 

(a) the operation of Swimming Pool Management be provided on a citywide basis;

 

(b)2 posts of Senior Swimming Pool Technician graded AP3 (16,673-18,296) and 5 posts of Swimming Pool Technician graded AP1/2 (13,664-16,217) be established.

 

(c)7 posts of PE Assistant (Swimming) graded GS2 (12,296-12,899) be deleted; and

 

(d)a one-off buy out for change in current conditions of 1,500 to the 2 PE Assistants (Swimming) who currently receive payments of contractual overtime and a one-off buy out for change of current conditions of 750 to the remaining 5 PE Assistants (Swimming) be approved, to be in complete recompense for the employees agreeing to the new locally agreed working conditions.

 

II SUPPORT SERVICES - REVIEW OF ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE OF OFFICE SERVICES AND LEGALDIVISION

 

There was submitted Report No 224-2003 by Director of Personnel and Management Services proposing changes to the organisational structure to accurately reflect the current staffing levels in the Keyboard, Filing and General Office sections and to establish a post of Solicitor (part-time) in the Legal Division.

 

The Committee agreed that:-

 

(a)one post of Assistant Keyboard Supervisor, graded AP1 (13,664-14,618) be redesignated Keyboard Supervisor and regraded AP2 (14,984-16,217);

 

(b)one post of Assistant Keyboard Supervisor, graded AP1 (13,664-14,618), be redesignated Secretary to the Administration Manager on the same grade;

(c)the post of Senior Administrative Assistant graded AP2 in General Office Services be regraded AP3 (16,673-18,296) to reflect the increase in responsibilities;

 

(d)the vacant post of Secretary/Keyboard and Filing Services Supervisor, graded AP3, be deleted from the structure; and

 

(e)one post of Solicitor (part-time) graded AP5/PO10 (12,536-30,323 pro rata) be established with effect from 1st April, 2003.
