The Committee agreed that the priority of the courses be granted in connection with the undernoted Council's Sponsored Golf Competitions organised by the Leisure and Parks Department for various dates during 2001:-

II REQUEST FROM 'SEARCH 77 METAL DETECTOR CLUB DUNDEE'

 

The Director of Leisure and Parks reported that a request had been received from the above club to use parks managed by the Leisure and Parks Department in pursuit of their hobby.

 

The Committee agreed that permission be granted for a twelve month period from 1st January 2001, subject to the organisation meeting the Council's normal conditions relating to Public Liability Insurance. In addition, the organisation must ensure no damage be caused to Council property, no nuisance be presented to other park users and that notification must be given at least forty eight hours prior to any members wishing to make use of the park. Members should have appropriate authorisation cards and any finds must be handed into the Director of Leisure and Parks in the first instance.

 

III OLYMPIA - CHLORINE GAS MONITORING SYSTEM

 

It was reported that a quotation had been received from specialist contractors, Gas Measurement Instruments Limited, Renfrew, to upgrade the existing chlorine gas monitoring system at Olympia.

 

The Committee agreed to accept the offer from Gas Measurement Instruments Limited amounting to 4,150.76.

 

IV OLYMPIA/DISCOVERY POINT CAR PARK - OPERATIONAL ARRANGEMENTS

 

The Committee noted that, following an approach from Dundee Heritage Trust Board, it was proposed that the current management arrangements of the car park at the Discovery Point be transferred from Dundee Heritage Trust to the Planning and Transportation Department.

 

V DISC - ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

 

The Committee agreed to accept an offer from Honeywell Control System Limited, Motherwell, amounting to 3,000 to carry out improvements to the control system for the current energy management system at DISC.

 

VI DUNDEE FOOTBALL CLUB - LEASE OF GROUND FOR TRAINING PURPOSES AT CAIRD PARK STADIUM

 

The Director of Leisure and Parks reported that a request had been received from Dundee Football Club to lease part of the Caird Park Stadium for training purposes including the grass area within the cycle track and use of other facilities and the running track.

 

The Committee agreed to remit to the Director of Economic Development to progress a Lease Agreement which would be initially on a trial basis until 31st May 2001 after which a longer term agreement could be considered depending on its success.
