Hundreds of maps added to Dundee City Council's website

Dundee City Council has begun 'geotagging' its entire website using GIS (Geographic Information Systems). This means that every time we mention a Council building, business address or any other location on our website we will now provide you with an interactive map showing you exactly where it is. So for example if you want to see where your Councillor is holding a surgery or where the Farmers' Market is being held, you have the option to view a location map.

So far we have added over 600 fully interactive maps to our website and plan to add many more in the coming weeks. With these maps you can easily zoom in, zoom out and navigate around. You can also print off a copy for your own personal use.

Because we are using a full address and not just a postcode like many other mapping websites, we can show you exactly where the building or place you are looking for is. In addition, we are using the most detailed mapping available from the Ordnance Survey, Britain's national mapping agency, which shows a huge amount of detail. We also plan to introduce aerial photography to complement the maps, giving you an even clearer picture of the area you are interested in.
